At rest, at last

Well, if there is a Heaven, Mom's already at rest, but as of this past Wednesday (March 28) her ashes are in the hands of Calverton Cemetery. They will be interred next to my father.

It was a nice ceremony, with Mike, the kids and me, as well as Katherine's boyfriend, Bill, my Bil John and his wife Noreen, and Noreen's brother Mike. The Deacon's name was Gary and he even asked if it was okay to call Mom "Dee." I said, yes, and that no one ever called her Dorothy. (Actually, now that I think of it, sometimes my Dad did.)

It is another chapter of life that is closed, with so many memories.

Enough with the Snow!

I get that it is technically still winter, but 3 Nor'Easters in less than 3 weeks is ridiculous. Five inches last night, I'd say.

At least Julie thinks it's fun.

Pet Photos

My sweet furbabies!

Flat tires

The weird ups and downs of temperatures have wreaked havoc on our roads, and Jamie fell victim to a pothole. Well, his car fell victim. Jamie had enough of car accidents by the time he was 8.

The damage done was 2 flat tires, and ruined rims! It was dark out and hard to see the pothole. Mike helped him pump air into the tires but they have to replaced because of the rim damage.

Mike and Jamie assess the damage. Frankly, Mike thinks this car is now a  money pit. I hope Jamie gets a new/used one!

Another Storm

After the Nor'Easter of a few weeks ago, we had another big storm yesterday. It hit in the early afternoon and dumped about 5 inches of snow where I live. Two of our trees in the back yard lost branches--one even lost its whole top!

Julie doesn't mind the snow at all:

Heavy snow weighed down branches.

Re: eye surgery: All went well. My vision is amazing and I only wear glasses to read now. Heading out to the doc's office in about an hour for a follow-up*. I'm down to two drops a day in my right eye; left eye is finished.

*if they are open. Lots of places lost power. Lucky for us, we didn't, although we have a generator.

Second Surgery

I'm sure it was my imagination, but the second eye seemed to take longer than the first. It was a little uncomfortable the first day but within a day or two my vision was almost perfect. It is very strange to wear glasses to read, not for distance like all these years before. I still reach for my prescription glasses in the morning, lol!

By this coming Sunday I will be completely done with the eye drops for my first eye. Two weeks more for the second. Happily, I was able to get a generic version of one of the drops that initially cost $300! Not sure why insurance wouldn't cover it, but I'm glad I asked. Even though I'm doing great financially, I still think $300 for stupid eye drops is a ripoff. The generic, which is exactly the same,
cost $20!

We are in the midst of a "Nor' Easter" today, with crazy wind and rain. Some snowfall but mostly it was washed away by the rain. Some branches have fallen and one big gust of wind knocked down a bird feeder. I hope this is winter's 'last gasp.'

Here are Julie (pre-haircut, she has since been to the groomer) and Atticus, taking a nap together.
